Learn about the 20-mile race around Cozumel that was created for cyclists of all skill levels
GFNY (Gran Fondo New York) Cozumel is a race for cyclists of all skill levels, from amateurs to professionals. People come here from all over the world in order to ride around the beautiful island of Cozumel. Some are here to compete and win, while others have personal goals to achieve. Many are simply here to experience the island in a unique way.
The Gran Fondo will take you all the way around the island, through 20 miles of coastline roads, stretching along the tempting turquoise ocean. You will push through the island`s challenging winds. In order to get a sense of what it is like, I asked a past participant, Fabiola Gamboa, about her experience in this competition
Fabiola told me, “The GFNY Cozumel was a very interesting, non-competitive race for me. Of course, I had my own goal, which was to do it in less than three hours, and I made it.
Some people there were chasing after the medal, while others just wanted to enjoy the day. They would take pictures, stop at the stations to drink and talk about the race, or just view the ocean.”
The competition is held every year in Cozumel and in different countries of the world.
